Constant looking at shows and sites. Sometimes more fun than just looking for knives. You can find something for a hundred bucks or less and you walk away satisfied.

Back in the 60's I bought a low-"S" Model 14 from Van Sickle. Interesting catalog -- printed entirely in green!

Those interesting items made from sheath snaps surface from time to time but I don't remember greg gutcher himself selling those collectibles.

Yes! Thank you Tom. I did not have that one.

What caught my eye was the leather handled sub-hilt Smithsonian Bowie in the pictures. I have only seen stag handled examples.

It's referenced on page 134 of Gaddis' book. I looked on your site and didn't see it; then went on Florida Wildlife Magazine which has extensive archives.

Re: Memorabilia - 01/17/23 07:46 AM

Rocky, I think that catalog(really more like a flyer) debuted in 1948. Yours was shipped in 1953, and in 1954 they finally made another catalog. Collectors call the '54 the "20 cent" catalog. Way too cool with the original envelope!

Re: Memorabilia - 01/22/23 11:39 AM

Tom

Here is a bit more of my memorabilia. I will ask Greg about them, (if I remember) the next time we talk. His memory is much better than mine.
It would appear this project started about 2006.

I just noticed the belt buckle I have on a belt does not have the “metal” edging that the other buckle has.
Posted by: Metalbender

Re: Memorabilia - 01/22/23 12:49 PM

That buckle was in RKS newsletter, may 2004.i have#22.they were $175.00, some were ivory, some were fossil ivory.
