1st of all, this is my 2nd attempt at posting this so I'm going to break this text up into a couple of responses, verses 1 "all-in-one" long-winded post. I hope you'll like this idea.

OK" Let's begin. After several emails and one very optimistic phone call with RickT today, I feel as though our forum is on it's way to better things! I have "re-upped" my banner ads and will make a promise to all y'all to try my damndest to help keep these pages interesting (and fun) along the way!
1st order of business for me will be forum participation. I have a modest idea to help with this. Let me run it by you folks. A RAFFLE!!
Not the raffle for numbers picked for a Randall knife I'm (we're) building but rather: A completed Randall Made Knife, pictured on the raffle pages from the onset!
New forum "members", previous forum "Members" who've not actively participated in and on our forums as well as any other forum "member" who brings a new one to the fold will qualify for "free raffle numbers"!
Numbers will be available to buy as in previous builds but these numbers will be reserved for a "free" offering to the "members" as listed above! It'll be our way of saying "thank you" for joining and "welcome aboard"!..."BUT"...(Ahhh: There ya' go)...I want your feedback on this. Let me hear from ya'...

I'm not thinking "pathetic", rather a "beginning"! I'm sure, once I get photos posted and start the raffle, that the #s will go quickly. I cannot say, at this time, "how much" the raffle numbers will be but I would guess around $6.50-$7.50 each...

the site has to have something to offer. It is old. My guess is guys come here and get bored. U can barely post photos, they are uncertain what to look for, don't have any idea of the history of the site, so they move on. FB is much more "fun" to them, the newer guys.

An overhaul/update is in order, along with I hope a structured membership. It is gonna take time.

Well I didn't get the call but they got the #'s. We are sold out, in record time, with 3 new participants. When you factor in the fact that our regular members, who take part in these builds, were limited to "HALF" there normal amount of numbers to take, this build is even all that more impressive.

I'm still inexperienced at this and I haven't figured out photos yet .but can we start a thread about randall memorabilia? Greg Gutcher produced buckles and other items from time to time. Rhett had tons of hats,collector club badges,and other items that I can't remember.

there is a thread on how to post photos...it's very simple, as long as you have the file size low....if you don't, just get a "photo resizer" on line(they are free)....and go from there!!!
anytime you post, you can see the "invention" to post a photo....right below where you type..."file manager" hit that, and away you go!!

I've already seen a couple folks posting my photo's....it's just a jumble of people posting photo's of VERY vice Randall Knives, that they do not actually own....they have just managed to copy others photo jumble....

Rocky is correct about Gaddis being the best source for info on the history of the Bear Bowie. I know of only two with that hilt style.

Mostly dealers posting photos to promote themselves and their business often with items for sale. Although there is a good bit of show & tell by participants, which is good.

Unfortunately, there is not much educational going on, and if there is, it seems to get passed over rather quickly. I just don't think fb is suited for that type of conversation for a couple of reasons. First, the format of fb is not really designed for it from what I see. Second, is seems most of the folks that participate in posts there don't seem to have a serious interest in the history beyond a "That's cool" type of comment.

That is one reason I am looking forward to what RT comes up with relative to this site and getting new members here in volume.
