BLADE 2021 - 06/08/21 04:53 AM

What a great show! Not just for the Mabry family, but so many people walked away with so many treasures, and there were smiles everywhere! It was a great experience to meet so many people who I feel like I've known already, because of social media, too many to name! Plus all the old friends too! How do you beat that? We're already looking forward to next year, it should be a must on everyone's bucket list!

Yes ! It's that compelling of an event you start thinking about next year

Wally
We already booked our rooms. When the Baseball schedule comes out for next year, if the Braves are in town, on the same weekend, rooms will become scarce and prices will rise, IMO.

Duke McCaa and I had a great show. Best ever by far. A ton of new faces and all of the friends we have missed. Next stop, the AGCA show in Birmingham. July 17 and 18.

Re: BLADE 2021 - 06/11/21 06:51 PM

Was awesome seeing all the new folks that joined the Randall Community, plus the usual suspects.
There was definitely a shift in the knives that were moving.
Tune and I discussed how the Military knives didn't take the top spot on sales.
It was like the past years when the dealers had folks line up to get a knife.

Like everyone above commented: Best show ever! (By far!). Great meeting...New members signing up and I cannot wait til next year! Kudos to The Blade Show staff for getting this done without a hitch!
Like Mitchell, I'll be in Hoover, Al., attending the AGCA show in July.
See you there!
Stay Sharp, Capt. Chris

Lori,
Thanks. We had front row seats to all the displays.
Since it stopped raining me and the John Deere have been busy
in the yard.Even though I was riding at 90 degrees I did all the
sweating.

Great minds think alike (Lori & me). I was just about ready to post the same photo of the 75th Anniversary Knife a few minutes ago.

A good suggestion for photographers is to request that the lid be raised by the owner or docent to avoid the reflections of the light fixtures on the ceiling. You can see the difference in sharpness in the following photos.

I held my camera directly over the opened case and took some shots and reviewed them before closing the lid. Remember with digital cameras and smartphones, "film" is cheap.

The first six are photos of the various knife displays.

Take note of the second photo, which displays an all-stainless steel Model 18.

Re: BLADE 2021 - 06/12/21 08:05 PM

Chris indicated that he was happy with the attendance at the 2021 RKCC Meeting held on Saturday. The drawing for the door prizes was ably assisted by Randall Shop crew member, Daniel Scott Maynard.

As usual, my card this year, the Jack of Diamonds, "missed the boat" throughout the meeting. The Grand Prize was a real nice Clinton Special donated by Gary Clinton.

After the meeting, "the usual suspects were rounded up" and photographed for posterity. Enjoy!

Meeting of the minds-Captain Chris and Grant Cunningham BMK!

Had such a good time at Blade this was the only pic I took.

If you have never been to Blade you need to start going. I learn more each year and the friends you make are real. Like Lori said already planning next years trip.

If it's the ONLY 1... it's a GREAT 1. I am sorry to have not been present in that room!

Always nice to meet a well-known artist as Art DeCamp. Besides being a Randall collector, Art creates beautiful historical powder horns for the muzzleloading crowd.

In addition to making powder horns, Art is a scrimshander, scrimshawing his horns, and teaching his granddaughter to follow in his footsteps. She will have bright future as a scrimshaw artist.

Thanks, Art for visiting with your granddaughter to my table.
