CC grind - 09/28/20 09:33 PM

Why is this CC ground like a 18?

Re: CC grind - 09/28/20 11:48 PM

I can only surmise possibly “sawteeth-no teeth” like this “STN” Model 18 or new guy at the grinder.

Re: CC grind - 09/29/20 07:40 AM

Maybe it is a #15. Blade looks longer than a CC to me.

Re: CC grind - 09/29/20 09:12 AM

Mitchel, I thought it was a #15 when I saw it on facebook

Re: CC grind - 09/29/20 09:13 AM

Agreed Eric.... thought the same thing.

Re: CC grind - 09/29/20 11:49 AM

I believe now Joel (the owner) did mention initially that it was a Model 15.
The Combat Companion is only a 1/2" shorter than the 15, but obviously narrower in the blade.

Here's one that is coming in January for a customer in WI.

Joel called in a CC in his post on "Randall Knife Collector", on Facebook.

I guess the "easiest" way to tell which one the knife-in-question is...would be to look on the back of the sheath!

Capt. Chris--

You "know" that is cheating!

Larry

But if he pulled the image from someplace the back probably wasn't available.

Buy Joel's knife?

Re: CC grind - 09/30/20 07:35 PM

Chris,

I know I am showing my age, but I don't see the (obvious?) difference between your CC-FT-STN and a regular CC-FT. We know the Full Tang only comes in SS and 3/16" thick.

Help an old guy out with a side-by-side photo of a CC-FT-STN &
a CC-FT.

Like your Model 14 & 15 in STN. Is that Jade Green G10?

Thanks,

Puzzled Buck

Buck, there is NO difference...

Ha! Good one Chief.

Someone grabbed that title. All of the answers.....

Re: CC grind - 10/01/20 12:12 AM

Scott,

I wanted to think that they were the same, but when "El Capitan" added the "STN", it threw me for a loop.

Thanks for renewing my sanity. I was getting eyesore for awhile there comparing the "CC-FT" on your website with Chris's photo.

Re: CC grind - 10/01/20 09:24 PM

Wasn't "the Randall Answer Man" a column in "Blade" magazine at one time?
Posted by: Buck Buchanan

Re: CC grind - 10/01/20 09:43 PM

Wally,

At that time, the "Randall Answer Man" in Blade Magazine was the late Pete Hamilton, former Randall Shop supervisor. I think there was another that came after Pete, but I'm not real sure.

I still have the article (somewhere) he wrote about the Randall hatchet, and the backstory on them being made and production numbers. Pete stated about 25 were crafted between 1969 and 1973, and that five were in the museum room in the building.

Re: CC grind - 10/02/20 12:17 AM

Bob Hunt wrote R.A.M. for Blade after Pete passed away.
