You never know what yer' gonna' get! I sold this #11-4" off of my website a few days ago (Well: Maybe a couple of weeks ago?) and my good customer from New York State wanted me to pickle it.
It's done and ready-to-ship. I just thought I'd share it with you folks. It is always a mystery as to exactly what's gonna' come out of the juice! I have never had 2 the same!
Stay sharp, Capt. Chris
PS: This one stayed in for 3 hours...CCS

I think the trick is to wash off the Renwax and use a rust eraser, then use Famous Dave's pickle juice. After you eat the pickles, of course.

I have not Rocky but it sounds totally workable.

Ketchup doesn't have enough vinegar in it to work as well as pickle juice.

If you want a stippled effect you can use wet pine needles, makes for an interesting result, they do need to be fairly wet and left for 24 hours, turn over and repeat with fresh needles.

Ketchup seems to work for me, however I've not tried in on a Randall...I just rub it on, let it sit over night, and wash it off.

I can't find an 8" high pickle jar, or enough juice...

Get a Tupperware container, use pickle juice and vinegar mixed together.

Thanks

Rocky
get a tall thin container such as for pasta that way you don't need as much pickle juice and the handle can stay out. You want to degrease the blade really well first also

I wash the blade with "fairly" hot soap & water, dry it thoroughly and I'm good to go. I have 2 jars. I "eyeball" the amount needed to level-off at the bottom of the hilt, pour short of that, stand the knife up (point down of course) and add a slight amount til I'm at the top of the blade and the bottom of the hilt.
Even you are proud you just have to take it out, a time or two, and rinse the knife and re-polish the hilt...no problemo!

That's why I have to redo mine!! The fellow I bought my non stainless knife always cleans it!! and, I have to start all over...True Saber....hell of a knife
he sharpens it much better than I can
K...so no stuff except on the blade

Picked up this AG recently from a fellow Forum member. Got it cleaned up, razor sharp, and picked. It's going on a journey this fall. Think it came out just fine.

I will admit that my ketchup job looks fairly hideous compared....BUT it's kitchen duty, and works!!
The nasty knife on the right....although the "right" sounds o.k....
