Another #1 Randall - 08/08/18 07:53 PM

Just acquired this knife and would appreciate any Input on It . I was thinking maybe late 50's vintage ? I was surprised the guard Is not brass , maybe nickel ? Also wondering about the spacer configuration at the pommel end with very thin red spacer. It does not appear to have been apart or messed with . Thanks guys

With the more pronounced clip and steel washer I lean towards the late 50s. Mid 50s spacers are more equal in thickness and early 50s often have brass washers if not both nut and washers of brass. Nice knife, If Tune or Crutch chime in take what they say to the bank.

Early 50's . Heiser Sheath with large stone button flap is early 50's . Knife has Steel nut and washer which is early 50's . Mid or late 50's the knife would have acorn nut and sheath would have slim stone button flap ?

crutchtip , does that sound right ?

Keeper strap wraps around the handle, late 50's goes over the hilt.

Duly and well corrected I am about the acorn nut. I can't really tell if it's a wide flap though. Good eyes, William, Walter, Joe, and Ben!

I think the stone reinforces the fact that it’s an early fifties Made Knife.

Thanks for all youre comments guys . Any Idea as to what percentage of these earlier 50's #1 knives came with a nickel guard and was that an upgrade/option over brass guard at that time ?
