What a great Blade Show! Knife prices were up and had to work to get deals. There were some awesome knives at the show.

Art Green brought Bo's first knife to the RKCC meeting and passed it around the room. You could really see the Scagel influence (bad pic attached)

We had a great dinner on Friday evening with the Captain and his buddy Rick, James Behring and Grant with Mudbone Jones and Amy Warlander, the Chief, Michael Mason along with James Caruso and the Neph!

Such a good time only one pic that I took of Mudbone telling us a story.

I thought Mudbone was "missing" Warren right here...

Thank you for the invite on a FANTASTIC dinner with AMAZING people's, and Grant.

Now that's funny. Filling Mudbone's shoes; now that would be a tough act to follow. Must have been a very entertaining evening. I did hear from Grant, James and Chief. Sounds like it was a good show. We had a show of our own here so next year fellas.

I remember this exact moment in Roger's conversation. He was showing us all the length of a new sheath he was making for Warren's new "pocket" knife!
Stay sharp, Capt. Chris

Lol, I can hear it now. Every time he picked up that knife it cost me $50. He cursed me about it over and over. Then, when finished, praise to be. OMG, gotta love him, he's one of a kind.

Re: Blade Show 2018 Album - 06/05/18 06:51 AM

Pap,

Shipped'em up; hope by the weekend to post.

Chief parted with a Tommy Bish 19-4 Kit for me; thanks Chief!

Bought a big Smitty Brassback chrome finish blade from 1953 with a great story from the Cap.

Last of the Remember Viet Nam knives that I was missing.

Cap had an awesome General Westmoreland that I ordered at last years Blade; that is one good looking knife in the Elforyn handle material with the club sheath.

Hooked-up with Sandra Brady to Scrim a Leopard onto my Africa Tribute Bowles Skinner; 10-12 months away.

Bought my daughters a couple of Sandra's scrim on Arno Bernard pocket pouch knives.

Bought a really cool ULU from Mudbone with a Cayman inlaid sheath.

Ordered a 19-5 with all the right hardware to do another Crosscut Mammoth handled knife; the handle material was from Warren.

Good show, tough staying ahead of the Chief and Guido. The Chief was on a mission, there were numerous sightings everywhere.

Warren look forward to breaking bread and maybe a bourbon or two next year. You were missed.

What a beautiful Smithsonian Chief, Love to see that one when it is engraved. I would love to have a Ivory handle someday but they lock me up in jail laugh

Re: Blade Show 2018 Album - 06/05/18 09:29 PM

Better shot of the handle.
Thanks to Dave Loomis for finding me a 19 kit blade.
LOL and Duke who blindsided me by asking me to help unwrap his order part of which was....this stag 19.
thanks to the Captain for a large handled Stanaback special that is on it's way to Italy with Guido to get engraved & scrimed by Francesco! Big thanks Guido for babysitting this project for me.
Sorry forgot to take pictures before it left.
New leather case for the 19, Warlander. Looks like we came up with a good idea huh Warren? Amy had a pile of them.

Re: Blade Show 2018 Album - 06/05/18 09:40 PM

Yeah no sheet. We have the original 2. Must say it was tough to spend for a zippered case for what you would pay for a knife. Consider it zippered luggage. Looks like nothing ever made or ever might. That was a great build and glad we did it as a Brothers project.

Just re-looking at your pics and posts and recalling Tom's previous post. Damn, you were swinging for the fences. You guys had way too much fun without me.

PS1: I had a great Blade too. Several knives sold.

Has anyone else taken pictures of the first Bo knife?

I would really like to see better photos, that is,
when the knife lies flat and side view without distortion smile

It was very nice to see a photo in color,
before I saw it only here

Re: Blade Show 2018 Album - 06/06/18 10:50 AM

I had a GREAT Blade Show.

1. I had bought a Low S 5 before Blade, but only picked it up at Blade.
2. I bought another 5 off the Internet. When I got it at Blade, it was not a 5!!. But I traded it for a 5-7” made in 1953. I know this, as the knife has provenance
3. I bought a 5-8 from the Cap, with small sawteeth. It did not have the correct sheath.

Thanks to my good friend Mitchell, I got the superb 1953, 5-7”,with provenance from the original owner. The original Heiser sheath that looks like it just came from Heiser.

Mitchell also sold me the RBJ, for the 5-8”.

Seeing friends, great knives and having a wonderful time more than makes up for the 2500 mile round trip.

Re: Blade Show 2018 Album - 06/06/18 12:40 PM

Warren

I saw that knife at Blade about 10 years ago. It belonged to Rhett at the time. It is a kit knife, although not marked as such.

After Rhett passed I acquired it from Art in 2012. It was featured in the RKS newsletter no. 2 of 1997.

I hope these photos will show a few of the "usual suspects" that may not have appeared in my fellow photographers postings.

I had been working on editing the Captain's photos of the RKCC Meeting so he can publish them in the next newsletter. Sent them off to Chris this afternoon.

OK, here's a walk through the Show......

Re: Blade Show 2018 Album - 06/12/18 05:57 PM

Cap,

Here's the brother to yours. Both from a tusk I bought from Rick Ward last year. Still have a chunk from the large end left over. This was an awesome build. Chief found the blades, I had the tusk, BMK did the rehandle, and of course Amy from Warlander did the sheath work. Chief had the brainstorm for the case to match. Got give it to him it was the bomb!

Nice knife, although is it not relevant to "Blade Show, 2018.

Both Scott & Aaron were in attendance and all things shop-related, at the time of the meeting were discussed, to include shipping and order schedules. Several authorized dealers in attendance also offered their latest shop-related news on these subjects.
Any additional news will be announced in the appropriate forum here, i.e. "SHOP NEWS".
Hope this helps, Capt. Chris
