This eBay listing does not look like a Randall. - 05/21/18 09:40 AM

Can't imagine this one being real, with the pink spacers, a strange stamp and the shiny mirror polished blade. I am not an expert but I dear to say this one is fake. I am contacting the seller. Can't imagine anyone buying this knife mistaken it for a real one. Even the shape near the hilt is not straight.

@ TAH, LOL

@ Windsor, it is an ugly knife indeed.

I contacted the seller but no response yet. I have a hard time to believe the seller don't know its a fake one.

He edited his title to:

"This-unknown-knife-resembles-the-Randall-made-2-4-stiletto-letter-opener"

That is an insult to Randall:D

He dropped the price of the fake Randall with 50%, after I emailed him that the knife was fake. Or somebody was real drunk and creative at the Randall shop when they made this one, LOL

But on a serious note, the guy only has feedback from two persons. The other knives also look funny to me, when I compare them with pictures on the internet. I don't trust this guy and if I were you I would try and stop the payment, if that is still possible?

Good luck!

Sorry, I didn't read the part that Tattoo Bill dealt with this guy before. Maybe it will work out then? But it still seems a little fishy to me...

One customers feedback says: "Best experience since years!!! You are the best!!! Thank you so much."

I did get a comment like that a few times in my life but it wasn't after buying something on eBay, haha

The knife was supposed to have been shipped a few days ago but the tracking #'s ( 3 different ones ) he gave me do not show USPS receiving item . Yesterday he/she went silent on communication for about 10 hours or so after i eBay messaged about the newest tracking # not showing as USPS has possession of knife .

Finally the seller got back to me late last night and said it the right tracking # ( did not specify which one ) that they would get in contact with USPS and find out what is going on .

Let's see what happens .Will keep you guys posted .

Am I understanding that william768 won the ebay item and requested a correct tracking number, and that the seller sent the number to Tattoo Bill?
Something strange there!

Update ................

Now i have tracking # the seller posted on eBay . No message communication from seller yet .

It has package as shipped TODAY . The seller was initially supposed to have shipped on Saturday , then seller "reassured me" it got shipped on Monday . When i told seller the tracking # had nothing showing up she posted different numbers . But no confirmation of USPS physical receipt of package when i tracked the new numbers .

If it wasn't because of her very small feedback ( and invalid tracking #'s , and barely any communication last day and a half ) i would not be as suspicious . But i have gotten ripped off in the past on Ebay so spidy sense are on alert especially with very low feedback and new sellers .

Will keep you guys posted .

I have been on eBay since 2000, I have over 6000 feedback. I have had slow as Molasses shippers. I always thought they are old and live where a Post Office is a chore to get to. I have been ripped off only once on eBay. He lived/lives in Oliver Springs, TN. Newer eBay people do not know to input the tracking on eBay.

I shipped a package to Tatto Bill Priority Mail and he received it 19 days later. Bill has the patience of a Saint, but that's not supposed to be known.

Re: This eBay listing does not look like a Randall. - 05/23/18 07:15 PM

I have been ripped off a few times on Ebay . The most recent and notable was last year with purchase of a Saint Gaudens $20 gold coin . I paid a little under melt for a coin that was AU/BU condition . I think i paid $1300 or so .Seller had over 217 in feedback and they were recent and a few for selling .Mostly $2 - $10 items ( red flag ) .

He had good communication and MANY , MANY excuses at first. Same shenanigans with posting invalid tracking # . He wanted me to post good feedback before i received item . He said paypal would not free his $ unless there was some sort of proof of buyers receiving merchandise ( $20 gold coins ) , like receiving positive feedback .

I said NO WAY ! Told me he was really tight for cash and needed to make a mortgage payment , blah, blah blah . He advised me he would ship an insignificant item ( an old toy ) to see if that would be enough for paypal to free the funds. That my coin would be shipped in a couple of days because he was out of town and could not get to safe deposit box. Blah, blah blah.Luckily paypal never released the money for all the gold coins he sold and never shipped.

To make an even longer story short .... i never received the coin neither did about 7 other ebayers ( that i am aware of ) that also fell for buying similar gold coin under melt value from that seller.

Paypal eventually reimbursed me my $ but it took a month or so .

There is WAY, WAY more fraud on eBay with coins and bullion then there is with collectible knives from what i have seen and experienced .

I have a feeling that she used the eBay shipping option, but could not print the decal. That has happened to me on occasion. I have both of our tracking numbers, and mine is different from the one listed on eBay. They both went out on Monday. I have had numerous conversations with her on her knives, and let her know that you were concerned as well. And I told her that her stiletto was not a Randall, that's why she edited it. These knives were her Grandfathers.

It could work out!

There is new positive feedback from a buyer of a Randall from this seller. The buyer has 676 past transactions.

While you experts were belittling the poor woman who was trying to sell her deceased Grandfathers knives because of her lack of knowledge, I purchased this 1969 hand forged Pre-Alaska Gil Hibbin Custom. This is worth twice as much as a similar year and model Randall.

Indeed poor women... Its just that you have so much people on eBay, that screw you over when they have the chance. Congrats with your new blade!

Way to go Bill, Nice get ! People are very quick to judge, sometimes folks really don't know what they have, glad you showed them how it's done.

Re: This eBay listing does not look like a Randall. - 06/09/18 06:18 PM

One should know what they are purchasing, not sure then don't bid or click the buy button cause then it's all on you.

Re: This eBay listing does not look like a Randall. - 06/09/18 06:57 PM

I don't agree, if you offer something on eBay and give a description with the brand and model number in it, you should know what you are offering. Or do you think selling fake Rolex watches and calling them real is also okay?
In this case we could see that this was not a Randall, and it turned out to be even a better offer, but that is a coincidence. Most of the time it is the other way around and the buyer is the one loosing money.

Imagine that a Randall just looks like a real one. You bought it from a seller and it turns out to be a fake one. According to your logic it is your own fault.

Would you also tell that to the seller? Something like: "I forgive you sir, I am the one to blame because I believed your description" That"s like giving a free pass to Con Artists.

This girl had no bad intentions but a lot of people have.

Re: This eBay listing does not look like a Randall. - 06/09/18 08:09 PM

The first problem is believing someone you don't know, it's up to me as the buyer to make sure of what it is I'm purchasing online, if I can't hold it in my hand, or purchase from someone I trust, like somebody on this forum for instance, then I am taking all the risk. Sometimes gambles pay off, and sometimes they don't, if I can't take the loss then I keep my money in my pocket. All this being said, I find that most folks are honest, but like in Vegas one has to be careful, Ebay is always a gamble.

I agree mostly with what you are saying. Indeed a lot of people are honest, or they simply don't have the chance to be dishonest laugh luckily there is the buyer feedback system on eBay.

But if somebody is selling you a fake item on purpose, then that person deserves to go to jail.To me it doesn't matter if you buy something on eBay or in real life. I lay all the blame on the scam artist and non of it on the victim. Its a shame that we live in a world, were there is taking advantage of people who are good of faith.

Re: This eBay listing does not look like a Randall. - 06/09/18 10:07 PM

If you think you got a bad ebay deal, file a case. Always work's for the buyer no matter if the listing says no return accepted.
Also good to ask alot of questions or know what you're buying. Yes there are some, not many that mis-represent themselves but Randall folks are well known and are above board. I think more would sell on Ebay if not for the fees. I know it disturbs me but I've been there.
