Welcome everyone!
We are going to spend a couple of weeks building a Randall knife for the purpose of using it as a fishing knife! I have no idea what twists-n-turns this build will take, but I know what the knife "won't be". It is probably best to start with that. RMK models that we need not consider are:
* Model #1's
* Model #2's
* Model #5's
* Model #9's
* Model #11's
* Model #12's
* Model #13's
* Model #14's
* Model #15's
* Model #16's
* Model #17's
* Model #19's
* Model #23's
* Model #24's
* Model #25's
* Model #27's
* Model #28's
Besides these catalog models, there are a few non-catalog models that just won't work well. They are:

* Model #12-9", #14 grind
* Model #16, Special Fighter
* Combat Companion
* Fireman
* Sergeants
* Gamblers
* Chefs
* Cattleman
* #4-6-"Fighter"
That's the long list that "I believe" will not work. If anyone objects, now is the time to speak up! All of the above-listed models will work exceptionally well in other applications. We can certainly include them in a different build at a later date.
Now: Let me hear from ya'll. What shall we build? Let's talk about this and come up with a short list in a couple of days.
Thanks, Capt. Chris

I would vote for a #7 with a #6 Grind, or even a Denmark would be pretty cool!! .... since the #12 with the #14 Grind has been taken off the table... AND my back up vote of Cattleman...

Model 4-5 or 4-6. Maybe something like this with different hardware.

I would vote for a #8-4" Old Style Trout and Bird Knife.

Model 5 is on the no list, BUT I would love a 5 8" fishing knife.

Model 5's just, plain have the wrong grind and blade shape to properly clean and skin fish, especially small fish! Ya'll know that I don't care what we build..."BUT"...(Wow: So soon?)...some people might read these archives some day and think we've lost our cabbage if we made an 8" camp knife to work on bluegills!
Best, Capt. Chris

Eric is right, Capt put it on the banned list, we missed that!

#4-7'' or even 6" with a #6 grind could be VERY VERY cool!

But really, #5-8" fit's in the go BIG or go home category, today, tomorrow, 10 years from now... whenever!!! lol
