I am considering my next Knife order and would like some opinions based on your experiences.

I'm trying to choose between:

A Model 5, 6 inch with Micarta and wrist thong

A Model 15 Single hilt, BPH, thumb notches, wrist thong

I have seen some single hilt 15's on here and like the look. I cant say I like it any better than the classic look of the 5.

Does anyone have any love/hate issues with their choice of these blades?

My Randall inventory is a Model 11, 3 inch Model 10 and a Denmark Special due to be delivered next month. This next order will be for a large knife, I am leaning towards 01 tool steel, Michigan is a long way from the ocean.

Thanks for the help.

Model 5-5 Bradford Angier, includes 01 carbon steel, Nickel silver single hilt squared, black micarta handle, wrist thong and compass. You even have 1 more option left for finger grips or stainless steel blade, but I prefer the carbon.

I owned a 5-6 and found it was just too much blade for camping, food prep, and general use. Sold it, bought a 5-5, and never looked back. smile

I am partial to the Model 15. Here are two of mine, both with single hilt, and both O1 steel. One has square hilt top, cut down tang, and BP handle; the other has standard rounded hilt top, standard full length tang, and finger grips:

Brian,
I just weighed a Model #5-6" with nickel silver double hilt and Elforyn (Westy) handle and it weighed in, just under 10 ounces (call it 9 1/2). Then I weighed a Model #15 with nickel silver single hilt and black micarta border patrol handle at 12 ounces even! I definite difference!
Hope this helps, Capt. Chris

Rob and Steve thanks for the images. Capt. Chris thanks for the details.

Even at 12oz I don;t think the weight is an issue. I have several years in with a Marine Kabar and they are 11.2 They both are fine knives but I think I am going with the 15.

Model 15, Green Micarta, BPH handle, single hilt, thumb notches, waxed sheath.

I truly appreciate the help. Capt. Chris be looking for the PayPal.
