Just wondering what you fellow RKS members (and others) find is your favorite handle on your Randall knife. Photos would be nice if you can include a couple. Do you have a favorite material? How about handle shape? There's always a few lurkers out there who use this forum as an "idea" book. Perhaps some of our posts will help to enlighten them...as well as each other. Let's hear from ya'....
Best, Capt. Chris

PS: Here's a couple of shots of a new Model #4-5" with finger-gripped (RH) stabilized black ash burl...CCS

Probably my nicest "grip" is on my CC with the black palm wood handle that you have posted before, but here it is.

Hi Capt. Chris
I saw that knife your site, but it wasn't left hand frown. Great wood.
As you may know, I really like ironwood, but other highly figured woods are great too. I think the Border Patrol shape is one of my favorites. Model 22 handles are great too.

Although not an "exact" match, this is a pair of Randall knives that I have had for about 10 years...and 8 years. They were ordered a couple of years apart and are so closely matched that I would not consider selling them. Finger gripped stag..."IF IT FITS"...is definately something I like to "get a grip" on!!

Speaking of GAME MASTERS ...
I've recently posted this new acquisition. The finger grips are "under" ... is that the right terminology, Cap?
Not right OR left. ... Pretty darn comfortable in the hand.

The Captain said 'idea book' so perhaps it would not go amiss to post this link to a pictorial knife handle material 'encyclopedia' of sorts. Be advised that there aren't any Randalls, but there are lots of ideas.

Tony,
When ordering those type of fg's I always state "#14 style (under)" just to make certain the shop knows what I am going for. Nice knife dude!

I agree. Here's a Model #22 with shop-supplied red/blue micarta. On the right knife this makes an excellent handle choice.

Captain Chris, That is a very difficult request, it's like asking what is your favorite Randall Made Knife

One of my all-time favorites, and you have seen this before, is this Model #19 Single Finger Grip in Ironwood. This Single Finger Grip really hooks your index finger.

This is an original "Griffin" handle from around 1980. Dave Griffin designed and shaped what would become the single finger grip shape. The contours on this are very sexy, I wish it was available today!

Agreed Rick. It was even "sexier" on the Griffin DP hunter! Dave was a great craftsman and good friend. I miss him. Thanks for reminding me of all of this again.

Yep! The Single Finger Grip is another real comfortable "hold."
When you look at it from the top, I like how it widens out from the hilt, right
around to where your index and middle finger fall, narrows down again, then
flares out to the end. I should say, more than the "look" of this ... it makes it
feel great in the hand!

This might be an interesting comparison. Here are 4 different "grips" on the same Randall model. It just may help folks compare one, verses the other.

Hi Guys and Capt. Chris
Here is a photo of various grips in you guessed it Ironwood.
You can see the different shapes available.
From left to right there is Concave, Model 22 with Crow's Beak, Border Patrol, Commando, Straight, and maybe Teardrop
Oops I forgot single finger grip and I don't have finger grips yet.

Peter

I came across this thread while researching my next order, so I bumped this one up to add some more information.

Here is my Model 23 with the #14 (under) finger grips.

If you want the finger grips to look like Tony's Model 23 earlier in this thread, you need to have the Butt Cap on it like he has.

Just an FYI.

Yes, I got it from you. Did you keep the one with the right hand finger grips?

This little 23 is the one I liked so much I contacted Chris and ordered me one. I got it last December or very early January. I really like it. Kinda like a small package of dynamite.

Rob,
I don't know if that RH finger grip knife is in my stash or not. I've been a little "lapse" in updating my inventory. Nice knife you have there. I wish I had (at least) fondled it a bit. Looks like a helluva' user!
Thanks fo your order, Capt. Chris

Awesome looking knife!

Sort of a SS Model 15 CDT Camp 'Junior'. I like it!

Four or five options? Not sure from the photo if the hilt is nickel or brass.

5 options, the hilt is NS.

There's a discussion in the "Anyone Drill Your Own WT Hole? How do u use them?" thread where I asked about some of the options I was considering starting on page 8. 6 options would have given me exactly what I wanted, but I had to lose one to make the 5 option limit.
