When sending 'Genuine Lignum Vitae' to the RMK shop to use as customer supplied wood for a handle....does it have to be stabilized ?

Rex,
You can't stabilize it. I have asked several suppilers about it. I wish you would re-address this question in the "Ordering Thread". I think more folks watch that forum. I have never had a problem with Lignum Vitae that I have sent into the shop. I've had trouble with pieces "ahead of time", i.e. long cracks, etc. Please inspect it as well as you can prior to sending it in.
Best, Capt. Chris

You might as well try to stabilize ball bearings...that's what it was used for.

My final project with the remaining Lignum Vitae is a Deluxe door knocker. It rings like steel.

Absolutely. Almost without exception..."BUT"...there are some exceptions.
Hope this helps, Capt. Chris

Lignum vitae is not possible to stabilize. It's naturally the perfect wood:-) I have never worked with harder wood.
