Cracks in the Handle of my Model 23 - 01/04/18 04:25 PM
Right before Christmas, my beautiful Model 23 with Thuya Burl handle that I got back in March showed a crack in the handle. I contacted the shop and have sent it back for repair. I know they will make it all better again!
My wife says I have been mopey since I found the crack. It is my EDC when in the house or on the property. It has been a wonderful knife! I will be carrying my Triathlete until the Model 23 comes back.

Lee,
Sorry bout that! Funny thing is in the summer months you probably wouldn't know its there. I've got a couple that breathe a bit too. Been really cold and dry lately for lots of folks. Not good for natural materials that like to move.

Sorry to hear about/see the crack. I have had Thuya on a RMK for many years(both CW and Shop supplied) and have not had a problem (touch wood, ha, ha).
I don’t live that far from you, so our climates are similar. I am pretty certain the shop will make it right.
That is a good looking knife.

The real question here is............ Why does one have a #23 as an EDC around the house????

I assume cracks in natural handle material are not covered under the warranty, so the shop will take care of this for a fee?

It's shop supplied wood so there should be no fee.
CW is NOT covered.

The late night comics couldn't come up with that one. Well done.
Nicely done Lee, happy to see you're back in business.

Comparing the pics, they clearly replaced the wood.

Lee,
Not a deal breaker for me, either looks fine. Great looking piece of wood. Fingergrips are the bomb on these highly figured woods. Hope you're happy with the outcome.
