Sharpening Stone Help Please..............

I was hoping to get some help on these 2 stones I am wondering about . The 2 In question are the ones on top In all 4 pictures . I only show the lower stones for comparison . Both of the stones In question are very slightly longer than the ones shown for comparison by maybe .030-.040" . I know Randall used unmarked stones for awhile and was thinking the white one Is probably OK . Appreciate youre help guys .

I guess I should have said would these 2 stones be correct for Randall knives ? The white one came with a 1970's #1 and the JP13 came with a 1960's #14 .

So I picked this old Norton up at the flea $30
and the stones all have a small corner missing somewhere
and missing some screws no cover well looks good
The stones look good no bellies
best way to clean?
and do I need to fill it with oil or just apply as needed?
This one looks as old as Dirty Waters I think is Bo's old one

Kerosene would be good to clean and to hone.
Stones have 2 sides, what's on the other side?
Light honing oil is probably the best choice. Need to soak the stones.

First, consider the condition of the stones. Only you know the answer. Sticky, loaded, etc, just replace them IMO. The opposite side might just be fine. Report back.....
You can get replacement stones on ebay if you run into issues.

You can soak the stones for a week or so in Mineral Oil.

Cleaning happens as you sharpen. What is in the pores will not release if it has been that way for a number of years.

Option A:
You can remove the stones from the mount,
put in a saucepan with soapy water and detergent
(powder to water ratio = 1 to 1)
and boil for 2-3 hours, at a temperature
of about 90-95 degrees Celsius, so that there
is no active boiling.

Option B:
Take the oven, heat up to 90-95 degrees Celsius,
take a baking tray and pour sand onto it,
put the stones on the sand and sprinkle around,
how to create a mound.
This is necessary for uniform warm-up. Warm 2-3 hours.

You can repeat several times to clear the stones better,
you can use both methods alternately.

Then the surface can be cleaned with kerosene.

Do "not" fill the reservoir! Coat the stones lightly, once cleaned. After honing, I wipe the stones with a paper towel..and I have used mine for "decades" without replacement. The reservoir is designed to "catch" the oils and metal that is being removed with each pass while the actual honing is going on...that's it.

I know someone who is a doctor, cleans his stones in the mri, the magnets rips the metal out...

Probably should be a secret. Just the thought.......
